Art at "Das Steinberg"
A place where art and nature engage in dialogue.

At "Das Steinberg", nestled in the serene expanse of Steinberg am Rofan, art is not just exhibited – it is lived. The works of renowned artists such as Richard Agreiter, Eva Maria Margreiter, Hanna Philomena Scheiber, Oliver Laric, and Vinzent Hadschieff blend harmoniously into the alpine landscape, offering new perspectives on humanity, nature, and identity. Sculptures and paintings that oscillate between archaic power, poetic stillness, and digital transformation invite visitors to pause and consciously experience the connection between art and its surroundings.

Prof. Richard Agreiter – Opus Europae Mann, Frau & Kind
Bronze Skulpturen – 2023

Prof. Richard Agreiter is an Austrian sculptor with roots in South Tyrol, who lived and worked in Steinberg am Rofan for many years. His work is defined by a clear, archaic formal language with the human figure at its core. Reduced, powerful, and timeless.

At “Das Steinberg” his sculpture Opus Europae: Man, Woman & Child is on display.

Eva Maria Margreiter – Daylight, Get you the moon & Follow your dream
Acryl auf Leinwand – 2023

Eva Margreiter lives and works in the Tyrolean Alps, where nature and silence hold a special depth. Her artistic signature combines materials such as wood, stone and metal with a poetic visual language that tells stories.

Born in Vienna in 1962 and trained as a designer, her path led her from the fashion industry via international experiences in Italy, Greece, and the USA to the world of fine art. Today, in her studio in Steinberg am Rofan, she creates sculptures and paintings that bring nature, transience and the human being into a sensual dialogue.
Eva Margreiter’s art is the result of a profound engagement with material, form and inner movement. An invitation to pause and feel.

Eva Margreiters Werke sind Ausdruck einer tiefen Auseinandersetzung mit Material, Form und innerer Bewegung – eine Einladung zum Innehalten und Spüren.

At “Das Steinberg” we are especially pleased to present three of her pieces: Daylight, Get you the moon & Follow your dream.

"Between mountain, light, and time, the invisible takes shape as visible memory."

Oliver Laric – Metamorphosen
Bronze Skulpturen – 2023

Oliver Laric is an internationally recognized artist whose work explores the impact of digital technologies on cultural production processes. Based in Berlin, he is regarded as a central figure in post-internet art. By digitally scanning historical artifacts and releasing them as publicly available 3D models, Laric deconstructs traditional notions of authorship and material aura. His practice points to an expanded understanding of object circulation and cultural heritage within the digital realm.

The work Metamorphoses, on display at “Das Steinberg” visualizes the gradual transformation of a common toad into a functional furniture object. The piece reflects the fluid boundaries between human and non-human life and examines the construction of identity within the interplay of biological, cultural, and technological hybridization.

Hanna Philomena Scheiber – Guffert & Platteinspitze
Öl auf Leinwand – 2023

Hanna Philomena Scheiber is an Austrian artist with deep roots in the alpine landscapes of Tyrol. Raised in Obergurgl, she studied at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna, the Accademia di Belle Arti in Florence, and the School of Visual Arts in New York. Her work moves between abstraction and figuration, characterized by a clear visual language and her frequent use of ultramarine blue.

Scheiber’s art explores the relationship between humans and nature – often casting a critical eye on the changes occurring in the alpine region. Her paintings are part of numerous private and public collections.

At “Das Steinberg” we are especially delighted to present two of her artworks: Guffert and Platteinspitze. Both invite the viewer to experience the mountains from a new, artistically distilled perspective.
